Snow(less) Florida

Sadly, we live in Florida, where it never snows. I know some people would say curses upon me for uttering such a ridiculous comment. Those people would the ones who are currently shut ins. Snowed under, using their last ounce of non-frost-bitten energy(which is likely generator powered ;-)) to curse my name. Call me crazy, but I crave snow. I guess a simple move could do the trick, but we are beach-locked, for now at least, thanks to both sets of Grandparents being here, a bad housing market, the mister's job and the kids not wanting to leave friends, amongst other things. I crave the change of seasons and a bit of snow. Just enough to make a really good snowman and have a snowball fight or two. Maybe go sledding. I don't want to be caught up in chest high drifts, although I do have hermit-esque tendencies and could probably fare quite well if left to hibernate. I just don't want to have to leave the house, ever, if it's tooooo cold (not to mention wet).

So in the spirit of wishful snow thoughts, we built a snowman, of the cake variety. "Did someone say cake?" (I love Jim Gaffigan).

Again our creation was in the spirit of making do with what you have on hand, so we used leftover candies from Christmas. The scarf and cap were formed from these odd licorice bites candy that no one seemed fond of before, but once they were on the cake, they became magically more delicious. Licorice and cake? Who knew.
And the best part of making it? Licking the batter from the beaters of course!

Hi! Thank you for visiting my little space in blogland and leaving a comment!!
MMMmmm.... it indeed looks so 'winterly' but believe me.... it's just frost and no snow. Here in the Netherlands snow is becoming more and more a thing of the past. And if it does snow we only get about an inch of the stuff.... not even worth mentioning! It only freezes here... Nooo...... I think I would quite happy in Florida!
